Marthe & Vegard

A Destination Wedding in Frascati, Italy

From Oslo to the hills of Frascati, Marthe and Vegard chose Italy as the setting for a wedding surrounded by the people closest to them.

Their destination wedding at Parco Hotel Villa Grazioli brought together around 60–80 guests for a day that felt intimate, joyful and deeply personal. The entire celebration unfolded at the same venue, allowing the day to develop naturally from the first conversations of the morning to the final moments of the party.

From Oslo to the Roman Countryside

For a couple from Oslo, choosing Frascati meant bringing their wedding to a completely different landscape and atmosphere.

Just outside Rome, the Roman countryside provided the perfect setting for Marthe and Vegard’s celebration. But what made their wedding special was not simply the beauty of the location. It was the sense of togetherness that remained present throughout the entire day.

With family and friends gathered around them, there was no need to rush from one moment to the next. The wedding unfolded at its own pace, surrounded by laughter, conversations and genuine emotion.

Getting Ready Together at Villa Grazioli

The preparations began with something that immediately set the tone for the entire day: Marthe and Vegard spent this part of the wedding surrounded by their friends and family.

There were conversations, laughter, anticipation and those quieter moments when the emotion of what was about to happen began to sink in.

For me, these moments are often among the most meaningful to film. They are not necessarily the most spectacular images of a wedding day, but they contain something incredibly real: the people who have travelled to be there, the relationships between them and the anticipation before everyone comes together for the ceremony.

At Villa Grazioli, all of these moments became part of the same story.

A Wedding Ceremony Celebrated by a Friend

The ceremony was one of the emotional highlights of Marthe and Vegard’s wedding day.

Adding an especially personal touch, the ceremony was led by a close friend of the couple. Having someone who knows them personally at the centre of such an important moment gave the celebration an unmistakably intimate character.

It was not simply a ceremony taking place in a beautiful Italian setting. It was a moment created around their own relationship, surrounded by the people who know and love them best.

That authenticity is what I wanted to preserve in their wedding film.

Golden Hour in Frascati

After the ceremony, the atmosphere gradually changed.

The light became warmer as the sun began to set, and the outdoor spaces of Villa Grazioli offered a beautiful backdrop for the couple and their guests.

Golden hour brought a slower, more relaxed feeling to the day. After the emotion of the ceremony, there was finally time to enjoy being together, to take in the surroundings and simply experience the moment.

For a wedding filmmaker, this transition from the emotional intensity of the ceremony to the warmth of the evening is something special to capture. The changing light, the movement of the guests and the atmosphere of the Italian countryside naturally become part of the film.

From an Intimate Celebration to an Unforgettable Party

As evening arrived, the mood changed once again.

What had begun with quiet conversations and emotional preparations eventually turned into a completely different kind of celebration: an energetic party with Marthe, Vegard and their guests letting go and enjoying every moment.

The contrast was one of the things I loved most about their wedding.

There was the anticipation of the morning, the emotion of the ceremony, the calm beauty of sunset and, finally, the energy of a party surrounded by friends and family.

Together, these moments created a wedding film with a natural rhythm — intimate when it needed to be, emotional when the moment called for it, and full of energy when the celebration began.

Marthe & Vegard’s Wedding Film

Filming Marthe and Vegard’s wedding at Villa Grazioli was about following that rhythm rather than trying to create it.

The story was already there: two people travelling from Oslo to Italy, surrounded by the people they love, sharing a ceremony led by a friend and celebrating together until the end of the night.

My role was to observe those moments and bring them together into a film that feels as personal as the day itself.
